Great Events What is the World Coming to? Are we approaching the end time? Is Armageddon round the corner?  The average man in the street seems aware of some foreboding calamity. Even the world leaders are beginning to recognise that things are getting out of hand. Scientists too are warning us of the serious problems that face the earth. Religious groups are proclaiming the urgent need for a Messiah to sort out the mess we are in. "Where will it all end?” is the intensifying cry from a confused, bewildered and sick society. Yes, there is a WORLD CRISIS looming before us! The Bible makes clear what the future holds for THIS GENERATION. The purpose behind this message is to SPOTLIGHT the dramatic events which will shortly come to pass, for we are living in the most profound period of prophetic fulfilment ever experienced. The disciples of Jesus once asked this searching Question :- "What shall be the signs of thy coming AND OF THE END OF TIME?”. (Matthew 24 verse 3). The Saviour replied with the following prediction :- SIGN No 1 False Prophets and Messiahs "Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name saying, I am Christ, and shall deceive many.” (Matthew 24 verses 4-5) It has been said that since the turn of the last century no less than 12,000 persons have falsely claimed to be the Christ or Messiah. A myriad new false sects have arisen claiming tens of thousands of adherents. Beware of false Christs! Beware of false prophets! These are the signs of the end time. SIGN No 2 "Ye shall hear of WARS and rumours of WARS”(Matthew 24 v 6) Estimates claim that no less than 90 million people have been killed during the 20th Century Wars. At least two trillion dollars have been spent on armaments and weapons during the last century. The world has never experienced one day of peace these last eighty years. Somewhere nations and tribes have been at war. Wars and rumours of wars will continue to the end of this age. SIGN No 3 "There shall be famines and pestilences.”(Matthew 24 v7) Owing to the rapid population explosion and the depleting food supplies approximately 10,000 people throughout the world die daily through starvation or malnutrition. Eight persons out of ten in the world are under nourished and one in three experience acute hunger. At present the world population is increasing nearly 200,000 a day, so greater famines are anticipated in the immediate future. SIGN No 4 "And earthquakes in divers places.”( Matthew 24 v7) A hundred years or more ago the number of earthquakes with an intensity of 6 or more on the Richter scale averaged 2 or 3 every ten years. During the 1950’s 7 sever earthquakes were recorded. The following decade 18 earthquakes occurred. By the year 1969 no less than 21 quakes were experienced. Since the commencement of the 1970‘s earthquakes, year by year, have been numerous. Almost every week earthquakes of lesser or greater intensity are reported. Recent quakes have claimed tens of thousands of victims. Nicaragua, 1972 10,000 died. Pakistan, 1974 another 10,000 died. China, 1976, estimated 1,000,000 died. Guatemala, 1976, 22,000 died. More recently in Iran hundreds have perished. SIGN No 5 "And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars.” (Luke 21v 25) "Fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven” (Luke 21v 11) Both the United Nations and the House of Lords have debated the mysterious appearance of sky phenomena under the heading UFO’s. Tens of thousands world wide claim to have seen ‘balls of fire’, ‘flying saucers’, ‘cigar shaped craft’, ‘unidentified flying objects’, etc. Most governments have taken the issue seriously having received so many authentic reports from reputable citizens from all walks of life. Greater signs will occur in the near future.
SIGN No 6 "And there shall be ... upon earth DISTRESS OF NATIONS, with perplexity... men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth.” (Luke 21v 25-26)Yes, the climax is coming! These are the daunting conditions which prevail throughout the world today. Men’s hearts are filled with fear as they view the deteriorating state of the world. SIGN No 7 "Israel shall blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit.”( Isaiah 27v 6) "Behold the fig tree, and all the trees, when they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand. So likewise, ye when ye see these things come to pass know ye that the kingdom of God (Millennium) is nigh at hand. THIS GENERATION SHALL NOT PASS AWAY TILL ALL BE FULFILLED.” (Luke 21v 29-32) The shooting forth of the fig tree, and all the trees refers to the birth of modern Israel, and the independence of many other nations since 1948. During May 1948 the United Nations recognised the new state of Israel. The Lord says that this generation which has witnessed the new birth of Israel shall not pass away until all the prophesies concerning this end time are fulfilled. As we approach this coming world climax we see two great Spiritual powers striving for the control of this world and the souls of men. On one hand we see Satan conspiring to produce a World Order to enslave us all and, on the other, the gracious working of the Holy Spirit seeking to warn and ‘save’ men and women before it is too late.  Meanwhile the inhabitants of the earth will be plunged into tribulation, darkness and judgement under the terror reign of the Antichrist, the Man of Sin--- Satan incarnate. After seven years of world wide judgement and calamity Christ WILL RETURN TO THE EARTHWITH HIS SAINTSAND ANGELS TO OVERCOME SATAN and his rebellious allies. ONE VITAL QUESTION REMAINS!  Are you a committed Christian? Are you ready to escape those things NOW coming upon the face of the earth? Will you be left behind at Christ’s appearing to suffer the tribulation horror? If you are concerned about your immortal soul and your eternal future read the section ‘born again’ and ‘How to be born again’. Jesus can give you a peace and assurance which passeth all understanding. True Christians have a glorious future, they are not fearful of the WORLD’S NEXT GREAT EVENTS. |
